Invasive Species Field Mapping Practice

May 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Become a Citizen Scientist!
Grab your smartphone and join us in the field! Friends of the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair CISMA staff will demonstrate two free apps for citizen science monitoring of invasive species. We’ll walk through the wild and wooded Fort Gratiot County Park together, teach you how to identify native wildflowers and invasive species, and show you how to contribute data to national databases shared with researchers, land care professionals and other volunteers! No prior experience is needed with identification or apps–we’ll show you what to do.
This event is free and open to everyone. Masks and social distancing will be enforced. Insect repellant, long pants, closed-toed shoes, and socks recommended. Bring your own water and snacks. No prior experience is needed, and families are welcome. Registration is required. Email Friends of the St. Clair River at stewardship@scriver.org for more information or to register.
